Julie Michaud, Prettyology’s Founder, CEO and Lead Instructor, is all about teaching people how to accentuate their true natural beauty in the most simplistic way. As a traditional makeup artist, she founded her first Boston makeup studio in 1997. After encountering women and men who weren’t quite sure how to work around medical issues like cancer, alopecia, trichotillomania or Bell’s palsy, Julie realized that she needed to expand her skillset. She trained in and started performing micropigmentation (permanent makeup) in 2002 and has been a leader in the field ever since. After 25 years in the industry, she opened Prettyology as Boston’s first “beauty lab,” now one of the most experienced micropigmentation centers in the country.

Julie opened the Prettyology Micropigmentation Academy after recognizing that many practitioners weren’t getting the foundational or hands-on experience they needed to perform these services competently, confidently, and successfully. She felt compelled to not only practice micropigmentation, but to also teach to ensure that proper knowledge and techniques are flourishing.

At Prettyology, we chose our trainers very carefully. Each of our instructors have 15+ years performing and teaching permanent makeup and have done thousands of procedures over the years. Our trainers are extremely passionate about helping students thrive and grow to become the best artist they can be. And importantly, they are all AAM and/or SPCP certified trainers.

With over 30 years in the business, this award-winning beauty guru skyrocketed from doing makeup for the stars in New York, Paris and Boston, to opening her first makeup studio in 1998, and eventually founding Prettyology, Boston’s first beauty lab focused on the natural beauty of the face. This creative CEO continues to run her custom-built beauty lab now at Mills58—a destination location on the North Shore which was specifically designed with training in mind.

Maria Concepcion, PAAM, CPCP

Maria comes with a wealth of experience in the aesthetic and cosmetic fields. She has over 18 years of permanent makeup experience as well as extensive training in paramedical 3D Areola Micropigmentation, Scar Camouflage, and Scalp Micropigmentation. Maria’s skills and patience have given trainees the confidence to be the best in the permanent makeup industry. She enjoys building relationships with her students and always makes time to answer their questions and concerns.

Vicky Martin

Vicky Martin is an internationally acclaimed 3D Areola tattooist and world-renown instructor from England. Prettyology Academy is proud to be her US distributor and home to bi-annual VIP trainings where she teaches her proprietary technique – the Vicky Martin Method. Vicky is passionate about her medical work and believes people deserve only the best at the end of a long tough journey. Eager to pass on her technique, Vicky has toured extensively to teach all around the world. We are lucky to have her as part of our Prettyology family.

Mary Ritcherson

Mary Ritcherson is an internationally acclaimed single-needle hairstroke artist and trainer. She has been in the PMU industry for 20 years and completed well over 16,000 procedures. Not only has Mary trained thousands of artists, but she’s also mentored some of the top trainers in the world today. Her NanoLines™ hairstroke technique has gained her worldwide recognition allowing her to showcase her techniques in advanced classes and conferences all over the world. Mary is one of the four founders of America the Beautiful PMU Conferences and co-owners of the Shades & Strokes™ brand. We are honored to have her as a recurring VIP trainer at Prettyology Academy.

Anita Abramo

Anita may very well be the most classic, beauty-focused PMU artist in North America. This Canadian queen quietly works her magic and creates impressive lightning and thunder in the beauty world. Her work is timeless, suits all clients, and ages quite beautifully over the years. Anita is the owner of Cosmetic Tattooing Ottawa. She has been tattooing faces for about 10 years and is not afraid of bold pops of color. This PMU icon permeates classic beauty and is internationally known, having been on the original Tina Davies Professional Pro Artist team and Microbeau Elite Artist team. Prettyology Academy is proud to host Anita’s Classic Masterclass covering her signature to technique for realistic eyebrows, beautiful juicy lip blush, and colorful stardust eyeliner.
